Kuala Lumpur is a progressive city with intricate architecture, amazing food, and a melting pot of cultures that leaves travelers with lots to experience.

But while Kuala Lumpur might be a city with tons of attractions to offer visitors, one thing that the city lacks are great bars.

The Islamic influence throughout Malaysia contributes to the country having considerably higher alcohol prices than most it’s neighbors. On the whole, I found the nightlife in Kuala Lumpur pretty desolate and lackluster.

Yet, K. L is home to one bar that is so freaking cool it’s like something straight out of a James Bond film.

Helipad Lounge Kuala Lumpur

Helipad by day, bar by night, Kuala Lumpur’s Helipad Lounge is a stunning vista that offers world-class views of the city, and reasonable drink prices.

The bar is located on the 34th floor of the Bukit Bintang building on Jalan (street) Sultan Ismail, on a rooftop helipad.

The Helipad Lounge opens at 6 PM and usually stays open until midnight.

When we were there, we purchased a bucket of five beers for 90 ringgits ($21 USD),  which for Southeast Asia, might seem kind of expensive, but for Kuala Lumpur, really isn’t that bad.

30 ringgit for cocktails

30 ringgit for large beers

25 ringgit for non-alcoholic juices for

The views of the city skyline are truly breathtaking, and both the Petronas Towers, and the KL Tower are clearly in view.

Best of all, and perhaps most surprising, Helipad Lounge has no cover! You just have to purchase drinks to hang out.

There is a dress code of smart casual. You don’t have to be dressed to the nines, but they probably won’t let you in if you look like you just rolled out of bed.

I suggest showing up right around 6 PM, as the Helipad Lounge does tend to get busy, there is limited seating, and seats go on a first come first serve basis.

To be 100% honest, the views at the top of this bar are every bit as good as the ones from the top of the Petronas Towers, and it’s much cheaper to go to the Helipad Lounge (plus every dollar you spend is for a delicious drink!).

So if you find yourself in Kuala Lumpur, do yourself a favor and don’t miss the Helipad Lounge.

This is truly one of the  and most unique bars in Kuala Lumpur.  The views are unbelievable, the vibe is 007 frosty, and the cost is surprisingly reasonable.
